Light your fire

Have you ever listened to someone else speaking about themselves and had one of those 'If they can do that, so can I' thoughts?

I often hear people say, 'I wish I could do so-and-so.' And for me this kind of statement is like the red rag and the bull.

With all the 'stuff' that challenged me in the past (divorce, abuse, finances, self-esteem and lack of confidence) I know better than most that you can have nothing and create a worthwhile, dreamy and very holistic lifestyle.

In fact, I'd go as far to say my life has become a bit of an experiment - and a personal quest - to see how much I can overcome, grow, enjoy and share what I've learned so others can benefit.

When I hear people make 'I wish' statements, My usual response is now a kind of: 'Then why don't you?' reply.

But what am I doing when I ask this question?

Echart Tolle says, 'When pain is put close to radiant consciousness it is transformed like wood on a fire.'

In other words, when someone is struggling to get their dream out - when it's choking and trying to wriggle its way out, through the barriers and the reasons and the excuses, all I'm doing is chucking a log onto the fire, in the hope it burns later.

Call it alchemy is you like. The question, 'What stops you?' is a meltdown question. And from all that melted lead that slops up from inside, can eventually, turn to gold.

One of the things I've been doing over the last five years is to take the heartache of what I went through as a victim of domestic violence and using it positively to transform my life and those who I come into contact with.

When a woman was screaming at her child in the street, I understood from my years of abuse the damage this would do to the child. I didn't judge the screaming parent, but just offered her my help while she brought herself back to center.

That simple gesture was enough to transform the lead of the situation into gold. It turned the shouting into a slightly embarrassed smile and a thank you - which amounted to an acknowledgment of showing kindness in a moment of need.

A few years ago I was broke and in some pain from being financially crippled. I created the resources to change that and now teach a number of clients how to get themselves back on track - sometimes saving my fees several times over in a very short space of time.

If money is troubling you, a good, low cost way to start is my e-book, Getting in the Flow of Money - Immediately. It's straight talking, simple and gives you an exercise we all should do, but probably don't.

It's true that no one goes from A-Z in a flash. You don't go from being beaten and shouted at to suddenly being aware and caring of others. There is a journey and a process to go through.

And rest assured I'm not telling you these stories to impress you with how 'Good I think I've got'. I'm sharing them with you as someone that know what it's like to have had masses of pain and troubles and has (and is still) learning to enjoy life more with every breath.

I'm going to be covering this subject of lighting your fire, meltdown and creating gold in two talks I'm giving called Turning Inspiration into Reality - click here to book tickets.

To be honest, I'm relishing the prospect of giving these talks. I can't wait to share what I've learned with you, because I know how you can manifest your inspiration dreams and wishes.

Turning your wish (inspiration) into reality is about process. Here's an outline:

1. Know what you want

2. Create a plan

3. Work on the plan everyday, even for just five minutes

4. See what's working. Notice what's not.

5. Change what's not working.

6. Keep changing what's not working until you get what you want

Enjoy today's exercise.

With Love and good wishes

Dry skin is no picnic

Oh the itchiness, the flakiness, the tightness! Dry skin is no picnic. Dry skin doesn’t just come with the dry air of a cold winter, but any time of year. There are many contributing factors to dry skin. The main factor for this is that people are just too dehydrated. Water is essential for the body and for the skin. Flaky dry skin is a signal that your body is getting dehydrated and it’s time to fill up again. 8-10 glasses of water a day is needed for optimum healthy skin.

Another factor that contributes to a dry complexion is the use of harsh chemicals on your skin. Harsh cleansers strip the skin of all necessary oils and dries out the skin, leaving a tight uncomfortable skin that you just want to crawl out of. Using milder cleansers will clean your skin and still allow your natural oils to moisturize and soothe it.

Moisturizers are essential, especially in winters, for keeping moisture within your skin. Moisturizers, cool, hot, tight skin, and provides a barrier against heat and water loss, as well as dirt, and makes your skin feel smoother…. although it’s temporary, until you re-apply the moisturizer again.

Hot water irritates dry skin and provokes it into drying out more. Long, hot baths are a no-no, no matter how cold the winter is. Take shorter, lukewarm baths or showers, and try taking them every other day to maintain the moisture on your skin. Taking a hot shower everyday prevents natural oils from being present and helps skin look great.

Once out of the shower, don’t rub skin dry, but rather pat it gently, even leaving skin slightly damp, and moisturize right away to look in the moisture. Moisturizing is so important for great skin, as it replaces lost moisture and the cream contains water-binding ingredients that help skin keep its moisture.

Alcohol and caffeine has a drying effect on skin. Certain drugs, prescription or recreational, also contribute to the drying of the skin. Overexposure to the sun also increases the dryness of skin. Wearing sunscreen and limiting exposure to the sun is essential to keeping good skin, or any skin at all as skin cancer is a very real possibility for sun lovers. Using a humidifier will help skin, as well as patting skin dry when exiting the shower. Choosing natural fabrics that skin likes is also a helpful method.

For dry skin that is not being cared for, it can lead to more complications than just dry skin. Eczema, folliculitis, and cellulites are complications caused when the skin’s natural defense mechanism is faulty. Eczema is a persistent condition that causes redness, cracking and inflammation of the skin. Folliculitis is the soreness of the hair follicles. Cellulites is a serious bacterial infection of the skin’s underlying tissues.

On the aesthetics side, dry skin ages people a lot faster than other skin types. The flakiness and tightness is uncomfortable, and it disrupts with the application of make-up on women. The itchiness causes people to scratch, and can lead to redness, patchiness and scratches on the face. The easiest and quickest way to gain back beautiful skin is by drinking lots and lots of water, to replace all of the moisture that’s been lost. It is a simple but a method that will never fail.

Speak your dreams into existence

The power of your words is one of the most powerful forces you can use to create what your heart desires.

I discovered the power of “Speaking my Dreams into Existence” in a playful manner.

At the tender age of forty I took my first art lesson and loved it.

I immediately began to say, “I am an artist...”

with a sense of playfulness.

I knew I wasn't’t really an accomplished artist yet but it gave me so much pleasure to say it and it sounded so good.

Amazingly, within one year’s time, I was charging over one thousand dollars a pop for my beautiful portrait work.

More recently one of my brothers jokingly teased me about taking time off. He called me one Monday morning while I was getting a pedicure instead of working.

He said, “Oh, so, Rebecca, you make so much in one day that you can just take the rest of the week off?”

And I replied, “Oh yes, that sounds so good to me...” After that point, I started playfully repeating his own words to myself.

“You know, I make so much in one day, that I just take the rest of the week off.” Lo and behold, if it didn't’t come true in less than a months time.

I am am emotional healing workshop leader and within a month my classes started filling up so full that I really did make so much from one day’s work that I could’have taken it easy the rest of the week.

Please realize that I’m telling you this, not to make you feel left out, but to encourage you to do it, too.

That is my sole purpose for sharing anything with you. So you can do it too and because you can do it too...

The vital key here is to keep it light and playful. The energy of playfulness opens your valves to receiving. When we take our dreams too seriously it can cause an energy of desperation which blocks your flow.

If you repeat affirmations with an air of desperation and complete seriousness you stifle the flow. Everything is energy and you attract what you put out, so keep it light and fun while letting the universe know what would be fun for you.

Make it easy on yourself, play a game with this. What dreams would you like to come true? Practice saying them in a joking manner and see how good that feels just to have the words roll off your tounge.

Have fun with your words and "Speak your dreams right into Existence".

Feel fear in the sky

As human beings, it is normal for us to feel fear. Some are afraid of spiders, snakes or the dark, while others fear heights, being confined in small space or even flying. Just like any other fear, the fear of flying can be caused by an irrational belief that the person will die from a plane crash. Even when statistics showed that a person is at greater risk of dying from a car accident than a plane crash. You simply can not rationalize a person’s fear of flying.

People who are afraid of flying are usually also afraid of heights, crowded conditions, mechanical things and enclosed spaces. All these can cause a person much anxiety. Aside from visible apprehension, a person would experience difficulties in breathing, abdominal discomfort, muscle tension, sweating, dizziness, pale face and heart palpitations.

An irrational fear of flying can be treated depending on the cause. If it is caused due to a personal trauma, the person should see a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist would help these people overcome such unfortunate incidents. On the other hand if it is caused by lack of information, especially for first time flyers, the person will simply have to educate himself with the safety of flying. Pilots have been trained to operate under extraordinary circumstances and this is evident in the relatively few plane crashes.

Another treatment is by doing relaxing activities such as deep breathing stretching and even some meditation. People who fear flying should try to determine what activity could make him distracted and relaxed. If listening to music or reading books helps the person relax, then he should do so.

If the fear of flying is still present after all these, a person can consider hypnotherapy, which can effectively alter one’s behavior. Just make sure that the person performing the hypnotic procedure is qualified or certified. When the fear of flying can be traced back to the fear of dying, the person could benefit from some sort of religious or spiritual counseling.

There are also certain medical conditions that could explain a person’s fear of flying. For starters, an individual suffering from vestibular problems would feel dizzy and nauseated everytime he steps on a plane. Other medical conditions include sinus pain, allergic reaction, decompression sickness, traveler’s thrombosis, hypoglycemia, mitral valve prolapse and muscular pain. All these could explain a person’s anxiety when stepping inside the airplane.

You are a shining star

You can ask some people the direct question, “What makes someone credible?” With others, you may have to be somewhat indirect. Ask, “Who do you think is really reliable and can be believed? Why?” You may have to be even more indirect with some people. Ask, “Who do think is a great leader? Why?” The responses you get to these questions indicate each person’s key credibility markers.

Once you know the important markers, assess yourself. How well do you measure up to the standards mentioned by each person? For example, assume your boss indicates credibility comes from an established track record of success. Review your track record. As another example, assume an important coworker feels that follow-through on tasks counts as an important credibility marker. Assess your level of follow-through on assignments. In some cases you will not have to do much to build your credibility because you already stand out in areas important to others. Your boss may already know you have a strong track record. With other people, you may have to reinforce your credibility. For example, you may need to demonstrate task follow-through with the key coworker.

Develop your capabilities in areas where you may not be as strong. For example, assume field experience is important to a key customer and that you lack such experience. Find a way to get some meaningful time working in the field. Take on an assignment that provides you that exposure. Assume an advanced degree represents an important credibility marker for some. You may have to go back to school to gain credibility.

When I conduct leadership training sessions, I always ask the group to discuss the key credibility markers in their organization. Several factors come up frequently. They can serve as a general guide to build your credibility. People often perceive technical expertise as an important indicator of credibility. You can build this form of credibility by studying to become more expert in an area. You can also use the language associated with a technology area. Simply being able to use the correct terminology enhances credibility.

Consistency also comes up as a typical credibility marker because credible people are perceived as reliable. Seek out tasks and do whatever it takes to demonstrate consistent action. Other typical credibility markers include extra effort, honesty, and a willingness to stand up for your ideals. Put forth the extra energy, be absolutely honest, and fight for your beliefs to demonstrate your credibility in each of these areas.

Does sedona method really work

The Sedona method claims it is a really simple way to help you to improve your life. But does the Sedona method really work?

Well, as with everything else in life, the answer is yes and no. If you let the Sedona method work for you, the answer is a resounding "Yes". If you fight against it and refuse to do the very simple exercises involved, then the answer won't be as positive.

But then, what would be the point in going as far as purchasing the Sedona method and then fighting it? That would be daft.

Especially when it's so simple.

If you can ask yourself three simple questions, then you can carry out the process involved in the Sedona method.

You can ask the questions out loud (providing no-one nearby will think you're just going crazy) or in your head.

First, you should identify the feeling that you most want to deal with. It could be anything. I'd suggest starting with something small first, such as that annoying advert you've just watched.

Then just ask yourself the three simple questions identified in the Sedona method.

Remember, there are no right or wrong answers. If you want to hold onto the feeling of being annoyed for the next decade, that's fine. It might seem increasingly silly as you go through the questions again. But it's an OK answer!

Repeating this on a number of occasions, you'll find your feeling start to disappear. Maybe not on the first or second question round. But after, say, five or ten repetitions you'll start to question why the problem ever bugged you in the first place.

It really is that simple. And it really works!

Make using the Sedona method part of your daily routine, a bit like cleaning your teeth, and you'll start to notice a change for the better in your life.
